Rapporteur elected at the Supreme Court for the "Tahiri" case

The Supreme Court will review SPAK's appeal against former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri. Judge Genti Shala has been appointed rapporteur for the case, following the resignation of Sokol Binaj in December 2025.

SPAK is also seeking a 12-year prison sentence for Tahiri for drug trafficking and organized criminal group, while opposing the sentence only for abuse of office. Meanwhile, Tahiri has appealed the decision and is seeking acquittal.

Tahiri was initially sentenced to 5 years in prison, which was reduced to 3.4 years by a shortened trial. The appeal of the GJKKO overturned the suspension of the sentence and confirmed the prison sentence. After serving part of the sentence, he was released for family reasons. The Supreme Court is expected to set the date of the hearing and the judicial panel./ CNA
