New discovery in the Amantia Archaeological Park/ An ancient city wall built in the 3rd century

In the Amantia Archaeological Park, archaeologists have discovered a previously unknown element: the surrounding wall of the lower city of Amantia.

Through a post on social media, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage from the discovery and some details from this development.

It is thought that this wall was built in the 3rd century BC and destroyed in the 6th century AD. This powerful fortification sheds light on the urban and public organization of the Illyrian city, adding a new chapter to the history of this ancient center.

Specialists have also carried out a necessary restoration intervention to protect the monumental tombs, as well as other conservation works on the monuments identified in recent years, thus enriching the archaeological landscape of the Antique Park./ CNA
