The new academic year started yesterday in an unusual way, as the lecturers left the auditoriums and went out in protest with the request for a salary increase initially by 30 percent and next year by 20 percent.
However, the students, despite the calls of the lecturers, have not joined this protest.
They even raise the alarm about corrupt and incompetent lecturers.
"Many students face teachers who are incompetent and corrupt."
This is what student Emiljano Kita stated to Euronews Albania.
According to him, there are many good teachers, but there is also corruption, which is a serious problem.
Another student, Resi Koçiaj, who as an activist has gone to many faculties, has heard of such cases in the universities of Polytechnic, Natural Sciences and Elbasan.
"I remember a specific case that a friend from Elbasan wrote to me and told me that a lecturer was publicly denounced in a show and fired for 2 months, then he came back to the university threatening them," Emiljano said. /CNA.al
