SPAK postpones Meta's investigation by 6 months

The investigations into the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, have been extended for 6 months.

The news was confirmed by Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, who in a statement to the media said that the investigations have been extended as the deadline was set to expire the next day, June 10.

The reason SPAK has postponed the investigations is because prosecutors are awaiting new evidence, from an expert report by Fatime Kryemadhi, Ilir Meta's former mother-in-law.

 

" Today we were called to SPAK to communicate the extension of the investigations for Ilir Meta. Seeing that the deadline ends tomorrow, the prosecutors decided to extend the investigations by 6 months. This criminal offense that Meta is accused of was registered in 2019, approximately 6 years have passed to date. SPAK has not yet collected evidence to implicate Meta and he is currently in detention for charges that I do not know. The point is why the President of the Republic is being held in detention. And Putin has registered them in a civil manner, Meta has been kidnapped. The prosecutors say they are waiting for evidence, an expert report from Meta's ex-mother-in-law ," said the lawyer./ CNA
