4 apartments collapse in Shkodra/ Narrow alley made intervention difficult

A large-scale fire engulfed the Dudas neighborhood in Shkodra around midnight, causing significant damage to 4 apartments.

Five fire engines immediately arrived at the scene, with firefighters working intensively for several hours to bring the flames under control and prevent them from spreading to surrounding homes.

 

The first intervention came from a citizen who happened to be there at the time of the fire.

 

" I intervened at first, put a towel with water on my head and went in and grabbed the canister. I shot at the bar and took the police phone with an electric shock, went in and grabbed the canister," said the citizen.

 

For the officers, the intervention was difficult due to the narrow alley and incorrect parking.

"It was really difficult to enter with vehicles. As soon as we found the alley, the fire had spread to the street. We acted quickly, cutting off the power until we localized the flames. There are several houses nearby, so we did the best we could. Fortunately, there were no injuries to people," said the head of the Fire Department, Agim Ponari.

 

"The intervention was difficult, but thanks to the readiness of the firefighting forces, it was possible to quickly locate the building engulfed in flames. We intervened with 6 firefighting vehicles and 15 officers. Narrow alleys and vehicle parking continue to be problems, hindering our work," said the head of the Operational Intervention, Bashkim Ramaj.

The police have surrounded the area and evacuated residents, while so far there have been no reports of injuries, only material damage.
