The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Arben Kingji, said that the NATO air base in Kucove will respond to threats coming from the southern and eastern borders of the Alliance.

Kingji stated that the airbase will interact with allied forces and provide quick responses to any challenge.

"It is a marked event for the FA and the alliance itself. Today, an added value in our defense infrastructure is approaching. In an era characterized by complex challenges, the need for sustainable and modern infrastructure has become more necessary than ever.

This base will play an important role in responding to threats coming from the southern and eastern borders of the Alliance. At the same time, in increasing our collective defense capabilities by promoting interaction through allied forces and enabling a quick and effective response to any challenge that may arise. The Kuçovo Air Base, the only one of its kind in the Western Balkans, will contribute to enabling the South-Eastern regional plan in supporting Alliance operations and exercises, airspace patrolling, logistical support or for other situations," said Kingji.

He made this statement during his speech at the inauguration ceremony of the NATO air base in Ku?ovo./ CNA
