Sejko hosts the representative of the World Bank/ Economic growth, unemployment

On Wednesday, the governor of the Bank, Gent Sejko, held a working meeting with the representative of the World Bank (WB) Office in Albania, Emanuel Salinas.

The governor made an overview of the economy focused on financial stability, growth, credit and deposit performance. He emphasized that the first half of 2024 was characterized by a good economic growth, with positive developments in the labor market in terms of unemployment and wage levels, improvement of fiscal indicators and significant mitigation of inflationary pressures, which followed from BSH's decision to reduce the basic interest rate to 3% in July.

The Governor also discussed one of the Bank's strategic objectives, such as the modernization of payment systems and, more specifically, membership in the Single Euro Payments Market.

Another priority this period, in which the commitment of the World Bank remains of particular importance, has been the improvement of the regulatory framework for the financial system and especially in the field of consumer protection in order to ensure the protection of the best interests of consumers in the face of the continuous developments of this market./ CNA
