The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, delivered the opening speech at the 4th Diaspora Summit. Begaj said that for years the connection between the diaspora and the state has been more emotional, while today the diaspora is a phase of the state's development.

The President stated that the right to vote for the diaspora is no longer a promise, but a reality.

Further, in his speech, the president called for not forgetting national identity as eyes turn towards EU integration.

 

" For years, the connection between the diaspora and the state has been more emotional. Today, this phase has ended, we are in a new stage, where the diaspora is seen as a stage of development, the connection is of the mind and the economy, not just of the heart. Now the right to vote is no longer a promise, it is a reality.

"As we look towards EU integration, we must not forget our compass, our identity. Let's invest more in the Albanian language and in education in the world ," said Begaj.
