The Head of the Veterinary Service in the Korça Region, Demirali Latollari, spoke about the case of the plague that has infected animals.

He advised farmers to be careful and not to sell or buy animals during this period in the markets.

It is further stated that rinderpest, although it spreads quickly among small livestock, does not pose a risk of spreading to humans or other animals.

"Four days ago, a focus of plague infection in small cattle was found in the herd of livestock farmer Florian Bode in the village of Shuec, Devoll Municipality. The affected farmer has lost 13 cattle in his herd of 170 heads. After notification from the Korça Veterinary Service, specialists have arrived in Shuec, where they have confirmed the plague disease and are taking measures to destroy the affected cattle. From the control in other farms at the regional level, no other foci have been found.

A 3 km perimeter, encompassing Shuec, Rakicka and Zagradec, has been placed under veterinary quarantine due to the high risk of infection. The quarantine prohibits the movement of livestock from this area to other areas.
