In the protest taking place in front of the Prime Minister's Office, thousands of citizens have also called out against the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
One of the protesters who climbed the podium in front of the Prime Minister's Office said that the people have great anger with Erion Veliaj.
"Oh Erion, oh legen, wait for Rama because he is coming. How angry this people are with Erion Veliaj. If you are listening to us from the cell, listen to it once again: Oh Erion, oh legen, wait for Rama because he is coming. This is what the people think of you," the protester said.
Even the day before, protesters unfurled various banners against Veliaj, which were full of irony.
We recall that Erion Veliaj has been in Durrës prison cells for more than 15 months, since his arrest on February 10, 2025.
He faces 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, including corruption, money laundering, concealment of assets, and bringing or keeping illegal items in a cell. /CNA
