Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha

Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid al-Adha today. Believers in Albania have gathered on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard to pray.

Eid al-Adha is known as the Feast of Sacrifice and is one of the two most important holidays for Muslims.

The holiday, according to Islamic tradition, honors Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of submission to God's command, before God intervened, through his angel Gabriel, and informed Ibrahim that his sacrifice had already been accepted.

Eid al-Adha is also known as Eid al-Adha, because within the days of this Eid, the ritual pilgrimage to Mecca is also performed.

In the Hijri calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah and lasts for four days.

In the Gregorian calendar, the date changes from year to year, moving approximately 11 days earlier each year./ CNA
