The Greek minister, Stavros Papastavrou, arrived in Albania this Tuesday.
He visited the prison of Durrës where he met the candidate who won the elections for mayor of Himarë, Fredi Beleri.
Stavros Papastavrou has apparently chosen to show his support for Beler a day before the court session that will be held for the latter.
Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 local elections. According to the prosecution, the wiretapping shows that he offered money in exchange for votes.
Fredi Beleri himself has considered his imprisonment as a political imprisonment.
From time to time, various Greek political leaders have called for Beleri's release.
