Meta from prison: I have nothing to do with the mining law, the investigations

The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted from detention through a post on social media, responding to accusations related to the mining law.

Meta states that the process of drafting and approving this law was carried out by representatives of the majority, mentioning former minister Damian Gjiknuri and deputies of the Socialist Party as part of the parliamentary procedure.

According to him, the amendments and the review in committees were also made by the same political representatives.

He emphasizes that, according to the SPAK file, the proposals for changes to the law were presented by a SP MP, while the final debate in the Assembly was accompanied by interventions by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Meta also raises the question of what connection the Speaker of the Assembly could have with a law drafted and voted on by MPs, describing the investigation against him as unfounded and politically oriented.

According to him, the mining law has affected hundreds of entities in the country and has no connection to the responsibilities attributed to him in the investigation.

"The next episode is why I'm in detention.

It is super fantastic, the mining law was brought to the Parliament by Mr. Gjiknuri, Edi Rama's minister, and similarly its review in the parliamentary committees was led by another "revivalist".

As SPAK itself states in the indictment, the amendment for the change was brought by the SP MP, E. Shkjau.

Meanwhile, the speech, full of blessings, about the extraordinary mining law, which separated the two eras, was delivered by Edi Rama himself.

Even the most illiterate person in this country would ask themselves: What does the Speaker of the Assembly, who is 1 out of 140 deputies, have to do with this law?

Don't the "specialists" know that this law affected at least 300 entities in the mining field at the time, which today are said to be over 600?

"The "specialists" continue with archaeological excavations to invent rumors that have nothing to do with Ilir Meta, because they have no say in the laws and decisions that Edi Rama makes on orders, not to investigate them but not to look at them," Meta writes./ CNA
