Maliqi/Rama Landfill: Two new waste treatment cells will be added

Prime Minister Edi Rama has emphasized that the waste treatment terminal serving all municipalities of the Korça district in Maliq is an example of inter-municipal cooperation, innovation and environmental education.

Rama underlines that with efficient administration, appropriate technology and awareness programs for youth, the work on waste treatment in Maliq continues according to the highest standards.

He notes that the Ministry of Environment is advancing the project to create the National Waste Treatment Operator, which will support municipalities in managing end points, leaving them more space to focus on waste separation at source and recycling.

He further adds that, with the new program of the Ministry of Environment and the German Development Bank, there will be an investment package in the Maliqi landfill, adding two new waste treatment cells to ensure capacities for a 20-year period in the Korça waste management area.
