After mocking the candidates in the race for Ombudsman, the DP's "show" regarding this issue continues today.

The next act of the show has been announced by the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, who says he will sue the Speaker of the Assembly for falsifying documents, at a time when it was the DP deputies themselves who signed for Shabani.

But Gazment Bardhi can no longer deceive the Democrats and the opposition. This is because, with voice and image, everyone saw how the DP deputies left the parliament hall yesterday evening, the moment the vote was held to elect Endrit Shabani as the People's Advocate, and returned a few minutes later.

This low political gesture showed that Endrit Shabani was the DP's candidate himself, and how the contribution of Adriana Kala, an advocate for opposition causes, was trampled underfoot.

Through the falsification of parliamentary acts, Niko Peleshi presented to the Albanian Parliament yesterday for voting as a false candidate for Ombudsman a man who did not have the support of a single MP with a valid signature, let alone the 28 MPs as the law requires for the ballot.

Precisely by abusing his office, the Speaker of the Assembly fulfilled Edi Rama's sick ambition to seize every power, including the last constitutional institution that was not under the government's control.

However, this time the Speaker of the Assembly has exceeded every limit, misusing the signatures of the deputies of the Assembly of Albania who had withdrawn from the proposal of the respective draft decision. No one can use the signatures/proposals of the deputies of the Assembly of Albania against their will.

For this reason, today, I have immediately authorized the legal team of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group to prepare a criminal complaint for "abuse of office" and "falsification of parliamentary documents" in collaboration with the Speaker of the Assembly Niko Pelesh, and anyone else who has a role in this unprecedented act of the Assembly. Meanwhile, I will request from the parliamentary group the appropriate authorization to address the Constitutional Court to verify the election of the Ombudsman through a completely illegal parliamentary procedure.

The DP Parliamentary Group has been and remains determined that the election of constitutional bodies should be carried out according to a transparent, inclusive procedure that guarantees the independence of these institutions, as the European Commission's Progress Report underlines.
