New Criminal Code/ Lawyer: 900 articles translated as with Google Translate

Lawyer Bledar Meminaj has commented on the draft of the New Criminal Code.

Invited to the "Debat" show on "A2CNN", Meminaj stated that the process was unprepared and unclear and questioned the clarity and quality of the legal document.

"At a minimum, this should have been divided into phases so that society could adapt. How can we act with 900 articles? Even we who are professionals and the judges who make decisions, keep the code in front of us, because we cannot remember everything by heart. We will have a lot of work here, and even the lawyers will need advice," said Meminaj.

The lawyer expresses criticism, saying that the New Criminal Code looks like it was translated with Google Translate, and poorly.

He also raised the concern that one year of consultation is not enough time.

"For me, it was poorly translated. It was taken from a foreign language somewhere, but it was translated as if Google Translate was used, without any effort. Paragraph after paragraph contradicts itself. If we only have a year for consultation, it is very little. As a lawyer, this is the essential issue for me," the lawyer declared./ CNA
