Abuse of minor in Fier/ Ombudsman, appeal: Massive exposure in the media, double

The Ombudsman has expressed concern over the case of abuse of a minor in Fier.

In response, the Ombudsman emphasizes that the massive exposure of the details of the event, whether in the media or on social networks, is a double harm to the minor and seriously violates her right to protection from further trauma.

Furthermore, the Ombudsman strongly appeals for the preservation of the privacy and dignity of the child victim.

The Ombudsman has taken the initiative to review this case and has launched a comprehensive administrative investigation, based on the principles of Albanian legislation and the Juvenile Criminal Justice Code, with the aim of identifying actions or inactions by the responsible institutions that may have influenced the development or failure to prevent this event.

"The Ombudsman Institution expresses its deep concern about the serious incident of sexual abuse against a minor girl in the city of Fier.

Such events require not only the punishment of the perpetrators, but also a deep institutional and social reflection to strengthen child protection mechanisms, especially those in difficult social or family situations.

The Ombudsman has taken the initiative to examine this case and has launched a comprehensive administrative investigation, based on the principles of Albanian legislation and the Juvenile Criminal Justice Code, with the aim of identifying actions or inactions by the responsible institutions that may have influenced the development or failure to prevent this event. This process will aim to analyze the functioning of the institutional chain of child protection and address any systemic deficiencies.
