This Friday, tributes are being held in honor of Captain Arben Anamali, who lost his life in the waters of Lake Shkodra while rescuing two tourists.

Local institutions express condolences to the family while emphasizing the heroic act that Arben performed to save the lives of others.

"We came to express our condolences to the Anamali family, for Arben's heroic act. To express all our support to the family, to express solidarity on this difficult day, but we are also proud of his sublime act. It is very painful for his age, words are excessive", said Majlinda Angoni, Prefect of Shkodra District

"On a difficult day like today, we are on behalf of the Municipality to express our condolences to the Anamali family for the loss of their son who heroically gave his life to save 2 tourists in Lake Shkodra. Arben will remain unforgettable for us, not only for the heroic act but also for the man he was. He is declared a national hero, so the honor for him will be for generation after generation. Condolences to the family", said Teuta Qyteza, Deputy Mayor of Shkodra Municipality.

Through tears, the deceased's wife and his grandson tell of the moments when they learned the sad news.

"It is a great pain for our entire family, for the mother, for me, for the children. For everyone who knew him because he was a very good and dedicated person. He gave his life for tourists. A colleague of his called me and told me that he was calling someone to come because Arben had an accident in the lake and I thought it was a minor accident but I never thought that he had drowned because he was very physically strong, a good swimmer," said Najada Anamali, Arben Anamali's wife.

"The honors were well-deserved, I hope he will not be forgotten later but will continue to be honored as he deserves. His gesture was manly, I have nothing more to add," said Mirsad Isufi, Arben Anamali's nephew.

Arben Anamali was the captain of the boat that served for tourists on Lake Shkodra. He entered the lake to save 2 tourists who were drowning but unfortunately could not come out alive.
