Holy Tuesday, Service II of the Groom/ Archbishop Joan: The words of God lead us

Orthodox believers celebrate the last week of Christ's life, officially called Passion Week, or as it is otherwise known, "Great Easter Week."

The Holy Tuesday Mass, otherwise known as the second service of the groom, was held at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in the capital. This service was led by the Bishop of Kruja, His Grace Anastasi.

After the end of the mass, His Beatitude Archbishop Ioannis delivered the next speech, giving strong messages to the faithful who closely followed the service. The Archbishop revealed the three main themes of the Second Service of the Bridegroom, while emphasizing that people should focus on inner spiritual purification.

The Archbishop said that many people can attend prayers, but if they do not purify their hearts, all their work is in vain.

Archbishop Joan emphasized that God asks citizens to be vigilant, not lazy, and we should not postpone repentance for later.

Only the words of God lead us to light and salvation, said His Beatitude.

Each day of Holy Week has special services and themes, which are held in all churches in the country, services which will continue in the following days.

" Many people can follow fasting, prayers and everything else, fasts, but if they do not purify their hearts, all the other work is in vain. It will only give an empty pride and stubbornness. That is why the Lord rebukes them so severely. If we do not gain the grace of the Holy Spirit while we are alive, we cannot gain it when we cross that border. This is the appropriate time. Indifference, postponing that I will have time to repent later, perhaps one day death may come to us suddenly and unrepentantly. During this week the Lord advises us, reminds us, to make us awake, being vigilant," said His Beatitude, John./ CNA
