Muçollari's denunciation of expired products/ AKU: We have blocked

After the denunciation made by the member of the leadership of the DP, Grigels Muçollari, that the AKU has hidden the notifications from Italy about expired mozzarella and egg white containing salmonella, there has been a reaction from the institution itself.

Through an announcement, the National Food Authority emphasizes that false information is being spread about the notifications received from the RASFF system, causing panic among consumers.

AKU states that after the official control, 12 kilograms of imported product were counted, which has been withdrawn from the market and blocked with the destination of its destruction, the amount of 8 kilograms.

We inform the public opinion regarding the management of cases by AKU for the 2 notifications labeled by the RASFF system as follows: On 31.5.2024, we were notified by the RASFF system about the product Mozzarella (Treccia di mozzarella pugliese (mozzarella ) 200 g) with an erroneously stated expiration date, in which Albania is labeled for follow-up. AKU took immediate measures to carry out the official control, from which it was established that out of 7.2 kg of product imported on 15.5.2024, the amount of 6.2 kg was withdrawn from the market and blocked for disposal. Regarding the notification received from the RASFF system on 3.6.2024 for the pasteurized liquid egg product which resulted in the presence of Salmonella spp, in which Albania has been labeled for follow-up, we clarify that: AKU took immediate measures for carrying out the official control, from which it was found that out of 12 kg of product imported on 10.5.2024 and 14.5.2024, the amount of 8 kg was withdrawn from the market and blocked for disposal. The National Food Authority is in willingness to guarantee food safety in the protection of consumer health.
