Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha shared a different story about his life this Friday, focusing on his childhood years.
Invited to a podcast, Bërisha spoke nostalgically about the first years of his life in Tropoja, while also sharing details from his life with his brother, sister, and parents.
"It is that time, that season of life that has determined quite a bit in my DNA. It is that environment, that set of circumstances that, in one way or another, has followed me as an element of my character. Consider one thing: a child in a patriarchal family.
I was born as the 20th member of that family, which would split up a little later, into a prosperous family, which had a small but sufficient estate. They produced almost everything and with surplus. They lived in a deeply conservative tradition, under an almost iron law, which was the Kanun.
To sum it up in two words, on the moral level he was omnipotent and omnipresent. Not only in the criminal, civil, etc. aspects, but with his moral code they were, in a way, pre-primers, in the norms that were the oath, the oath, and the facing of risks.
"We were three children: my brother was the first, 10 years before me; my sister was the second, 5 years before me; and I was the third child. In my family, my mother made the law with an iron fist. My father was strict, but my mother made the laws," Berisha said./CNA
