Berisha: Constitutional Court, notary of the Albanian government's criminal

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in his statement to the media after leaving the Special Prosecution Office, described the Constitutional Court as the "notary of criminal acts" of the Albanian government.

Berisha said that this court has pledged not to review the issue of the security measure imposed on him.

He added that the request to repeal the measure was submitted 10 months ago and has not yet been considered, as, according to him, has happened with several laws that the DP has submitted to this court.

"It was the Constitutional Court, which pledged not to review Sali Berisha's case. Since you asked me here, have you sent the measure of presentation every two weeks to the Constitutional Court? How long have I sent it, you say? I sent it 10 months ago. That court that is the shameful notary of the criminal acts of the Albanian government, that court that reviews Balluk's request within a month, that reviews Erion Veliaj's request within two months, that has a legal obligation to review security measures within a maximum period of three months, postpones the review of my request until October. That is, it postpones it by almost 11 months, three times the legal deadline.

This court is a servant of the government, with a good part of them, I won't say every one of them, one of the main reasons that has brought those tens of thousands of boys and girls out in protest for 50 or so days. Why? Because the DP Parliamentary Group has opposed the strategic investment law in parliament and has sent it to the Constitutional Court.

The Constitutional Court, despite the strong demands of the European Commission and the European Union, has left the law in force. The Democratic Party (DP) has sent the law on the protection of cultural heritage to this court and it was specifically about the absolutely most beautiful, best park in Europe, which is the Butrint Park. The Constitutional Court endorsed the government's decision to destroy it. The Constitutional Court upheld the amendment to the law on the protection of protected areas and natural landscapes, strongly opposed by the Democratic Party (DP), Berisha said. /CNA
