Today's meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Europe and Foreign Affairs was accompanied by debates and clashes between the head of the Committee, Igli Hasani, and DP MPs, Albana Vokshi and Tritan Shehu. The debates started due to the statement of Serbian Minister, Snezhana Paunovic, on Kosovo.

Vokshi said that the Albanian government should declare the Serbian minister "non grata" and file a lawsuit against her. In response, Hasani said that the majority has maintained its position on this issue.

The debate escalated after Shehu said the head of the Commission was minimizing the issue. After the clashes, the meeting was suspended for several minutes.

Debate:

Vokshi: Why isn't the Serbian ambassador urgently summoned and a note of protest presented to him? Albania cannot remain silent when Kosovo's history is attacked and Milosevic's crimes are relativized. We demand the minister be declared persona non grata and a lawsuit initiated.

Hasani: The government has taken a stand on the horrible, dirty, unacceptable phrase of an individual who is currently a minister in the Serbian government, of a Peja scumbag who is trying to bring out all the complexes of her youth in that statement. The Foreign Minister has taken a stand. The Chairman of the Group as well. This majority has been clear in condemning an individual who represents in the most ugly way the Milosevic past of Serbia.

Shehu: I would not minimize this issue.

Hasani: Don't misquote me.
