Cooperation with counterparts in the region/ Dumani: Here are the countries we

SPAK Chief Prosecutor, Altin Dumani, spoke at the European Policy Center about cooperation with counterpart institutions in the region.

Dumani said that SPAK has had joint investigative teams with countries in the region, while he singled out the best cooperation with Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro. He further stated that there have been some difficulties with Serbia, but added that cooperation has improved thanks to the mediation of Eurojust.

"Regarding cooperation with countries in the region. We as SPAK have a very good cooperation with Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and recently with Serbia. This cooperation has been built over the years and is daily. With countries in the region we have had joint investigative teams. I can mention Kosovo, North Macedonia. With these two countries we have had, joint investigative teams, parallel investigations, spontaneous exchange of information on a permanent basis. We have excellent cooperation with Montenegro, due to the very fact that in our investigations we have noticed that Albanian criminal groups use Montenegro for their criminal purposes. We have had cases when quantities of cocaine came from Latin American countries, were unloaded at the port of Tivat and then transported to Albania. We have had concrete cooperation with the Montenegrin authorities. We have used special methods, such as controlled delivery with the aim of seizing cocaine in Albania. I would single out Montenegro because the exchange of information is also more frequent with Montenegro. Cooperation with "The Special Prosecution of Montenegro is at a very good level. We have had some difficulties with Serbia, but thanks to the mediation of Eurojust, we have strong cooperation. We are working together because in our investigations we have noticed cases of cooperation between Albanian and Serbian organized crime ," said Dumani. /CNA
