The head of SPAK, Arben Kraja, complained today to the Laws Commission regarding the funds for SPAK in the 2022 budget.

Kraja said that from time to time the Government has cut off certain funds, but there has been no reaction from his side.

"From time to time, the SPAK budget has been interfered with by a normative act, cutting off certain funds. We have not reacted", he said.

The head of SPAK declared that from 2023 this violent practice should not happen again because, according to him, it affects the independence of the institution.

"We understand the crisis, but starting from 2023, such a violent practice should no longer be done. There should not be unilateral violent cuts of the budget of an independent institution because I think it goes into the limitations of the independence of an institution to function. In a situation when we have the full staff, you will force us not to pay someone, or not to do a job", Kraja emphasized.

Meanwhile, the head of the Law Commission, Klotilda Bushka, said that these cases were exceptional due to the energy crisis and the situation caused by Russia's war in Ukraine.

Also, Bushka asked SPAK and the Ministry of Finance to agree and find a balance between needs and opportunities./ BA - CNA.al
