The Air Albania company, the flag and pride of Albania as the prime minister calls it, has been put into sequestration due to unpaid debts. At the National Business Center, a writ of execution has been filed by the enforcement office Bailiff Services Albania for the imposition of a conservative seizure on the shares of Air Albania, with the aim of not alienating them until the debts are settled.

The sequestration of the quotas has been imposed on the account of Sinan Isik, the former number 2 of Air Albania. Isik held the position of deputy director general of Air Albania from August 2018 until the end of last year.

It is not known how much is the amount of debts that Air Albania has towards Isik, but in the order of seizure of shares it is stated that the company has not paid the obligation even after the official notification.

"Based on Article 517 of the Code of Civil Procedure, the company was notified of the voluntary execution. Since no action has been taken by the debtor party and since the legal deadline for voluntary execution has ended, the execution of the title has passed into compulsory execution. Under these conditions, we order the imposition of conservative sequestration on the shares of the debtor party as well as on the rights derived from their possession," the order states.

A company on the ground

The financial condition of Air Albania, a company where 10 percent of the shares are owned by the Albanian state, remains unknown to the public. The last published balance of Air Albania is that of 2018, while it is not known with what the company is financed and who are the financial consequences, for the public shares held by Albcontrol.

Air Albania's finances were put at the center of public debates, after the company's agreement with the Directorate of Government Services for the Prime Minister's personal charter. It is not known how much the Albanians pay for the prime ministerial plane that the Directorate of Government Services has borrowed from Air Albania.

The opposition demanded the establishment of an investigative commission on this issue among several other hot issues, but the initiative was blocked by the majority.
