70 million euros for energy, the government passes the budget support for KESH

The Albanian government has transferred a fund worth 70 million euros to the Albanian Electric Power Corporation to provide energy in the month of August.

Energy prices in the stock market have reached the highest levels of this year, reaching an average value of 500 euros for several hours and over 600 euros in the period of peak demand.

KESH has been forced to cancel the procedure for purchasing electricity twice in the last week, due to expensive prices.

The corporation managed to buy 7.6 million euros of electricity for the two days of the weekend of August 20 and 21 at a price of 488 euros per megawatt hour, but canceled the request to receive an amount of 47,600 megawatt hours for the last 10 days of the month.

This amount would cost KESH a bill of 23 million euros.

Only for the summer months, the costs for energy import reached the value of 150 million euros, while the water reserve has been halved.

Currently, the amount of energy that can be produced in the Fierza Basin is 678 gigawatt hours, sufficient for 40 days of electricity supply./euronews
