Around 20,000 high school graduates from across the country are competing for university admission after completing the A2 application form.

The head of the Albanian academic network, Arjan Xhelaj, stated in a television appearance that over 30% of high school graduates want engineering and IT majors.

Winners by branch will be announced on August 25th.

"This year the number of applicants is higher than last year. We have about 20,200 high school graduates who have closed the application with the A2 form. The request has come as a result of the reaction of universities to bring their study programs closer to the labor market. I am taking the case of Agriculture, it is typical, when the cooperation of universities is established on a sound basis," said Arjan Xhelaj, head of the Albanian academic network. This year we have computer engineering together, which have exceeded the 30% figure and it is a good trend, because, more or less, it is in those professions that offer employment opportunities for others, through economic opportunities. Medical science in general, plus nursing which ranks second, and is stable as always. Economics which has the third place, because it is a solid demand that requires every field of the economy and society to have professionals in the field", - said Xhelaj./CNA
