EU introduces new AI tool to improve food safety control

The European Union has introduced a new tool based on artificial intelligence to improve food safety controls and more quickly detect risks in the food chain. 

The tool is called TraceMap and was developed to help authorities better track the origin of food products and the links between different operators in the market. The system uses artificial intelligence to analyze big data and more quickly identify potential problems in the food supply.

According to the European Commission, this system will help improve food safety risk assessments, quickly identify links between producers, distributors and traders, as well as monitor the supply chain to enable the rapid withdrawal of unsafe products from the market.

European authorities say the new technology could strengthen the fight against food fraud and dangerous products by making it easier for inspectors to analyze large amounts of market information. /CNA
