New coach Perez aims for sensational return to the bench

Real Madrid is planning for next season after being eliminated from the Champions League and with Barcelona close to the La Liga title.

One of the main issues is the bench, after the departure of Xabi Alonso and the difficult period of Álvaro Arbeloa.

President Florentino Perez is targeting the return of Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach has a contract with Benfica until 2027, but can leave with a €3 million release clause.

Mourinho previously managed Real from 2010 to 2013, winning a league title, a Copa del Rey and a Super Cup. He failed to win the Champions League, although he reached three consecutive semi-finals.

In the current season, Mourinho is in second place with Benfica, 7 points behind Porto. "The Special One" is the favorite of president Perez, who wants to bring him back to the bench. The club's chairman believes that Mourinho is the right person to lead a group of quality players.
