The "Adidas" ball decides whether the goal was Ronaldo's or Bruno Fernandes'

Adidas has put an end to the controversy about the first goal scored in the challenge between Portugal and Uruguay in the World Championship.

Ronaldo wanted the goal to be credited to him, but FIFA ruled that it belonged to Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Such a thing has now been confirmed by Adidas, who are also the designers of the "Al Rihla" ball used in the World Cup in Qatar.

Adidas' statement reads:

In the match between Portugal and Uruguay, using the connected ball technology installed on the official adidas Al Rihla match ball, we are able to conclusively show that there was no contact with the ball by Cristiano Ronaldo for the first goal of the game. The 500 Hz IMU sensor inside the ball allows us to be very precise in our analysis.”
