Costa Rica fully opens Group E of the World Cup by beating Japan 1-0, which was seen as the favorite after its success against Germany a few days ago.

The Central American team, after losing 7-0 against Spain, was thought to be out of the World Cup, but it has revived its chances by completely opening the group as it defeated the Japanese in a match where it played almost all the time only in defense.
