Paredes' card removed? FIFA confirms everything

The events that followed the World Cup final on July 19 continue to be the subject of debate, and FIFA has clarified one of the most commented episodes. It concerns the situation of Leandro Paredes, who was initially reported as a player punished with a red card after the end of the match between Spain and Argentina.

Immediately after referee Slavko Vin?i? blew the final whistle, tensions and clashes broke out on the pitch between players from both teams. Paredes was involved in several violent clashes with Eric Garcia and Gavi.

In the first hours after the final, the information system used by FIFA commentators indicated that the Argentine midfielder had been sent off.

However, a little later, the information was corrected and Paredes' name was removed from the list of punished players. FIFA has now officially confirmed that no red card was shown to the Argentine footballer and that everything was the result of an error in the information system.
