Concrete step from Italy, meeting with Guardiola about the bench

Pep Guardiola has emerged as one of the candidates to take charge of the Italian national team.

According to reports, in recent hours there have been contacts between the former Manchester City coach and Paolo Maldini, with the support of Leonardo, to discuss the possibility of a collaboration.

It is learned that the parties also held a meeting over the weekend in Barcelona. Guardiola is considered a profile that would bring great enthusiasm, but the operation remains difficult for financial and personal reasons.

The 55-year-old has previously expressed his desire to take a break and has rejected several high-profile offers. Meanwhile, Giovanni Malago has revealed that the list of candidates is not limited to Andrea Pirlo and Roberto Mancini. For now, Guardiola, Mancini and Pirlo remain the main names linked with the Italy bench.
