Happy ending! Arsenal completes transfer of Gyokere

Viktor Gyökeres will become Arsenal's latest signing, bringing to an end one of the longest-running transfer sagas of the summer transfer window. The Swedish striker leaves Sporting Lisbon after two impressive seasons, in which he scored 97 goals in 102 appearances.

The Portuguese club will receive 63.5 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses from the transfer, while the player's willingness to move to the Gunners was crucial to the deal.

Arsenal were Gyökeres' only choice, despite interest from Manchester United and his former manager, Ruben Amorim. Arteta had identified him as a primary target, to increase the effectiveness of the attacking phase.

The striker is expected to undergo a medical within a few hours, before signing and making it official.
