Vinicius documentary, Valencia threatens to sue Netflix

Spanish club Valencia have threatened to sue a Netflix documentary about Vinicius Junior, calling it full of "lies".

The documentary shows that a large group of Valencia fans made racist chants towards the Real Madrid striker during a match in 2023. Valencia claims that these accusations are incorrect and demands an immediate correction from the producers.

The club says the fans did not use the word "mono" (meaning "monkey"), but "tonto" ("fool"). Three fans have been convicted of racist abuse, but experts have found that a video included in the documentary was doctored.

Vinicius protested strongly in that match and initially refused to continue playing. Coach Carlo Ancelotti later clarified that it was not the entire stadium that used racist language. Valencia demands respect for the fans and reserves the right to pursue the matter legally.
