Tension at Sivasspor/ Coach expels him, Manaj "doesn't give up"

A conflict has erupted in the Sivasspor camp between Albanian striker Rey Manaj and coach R?za Çal?mbay.

The club announced that the player was injured, but Manaj reacted by stating that the injury was not the reason why he was not called up. He said that he had trained and was ready to play, but was left out due to personal reasons of the coach.

According to him, the decision to expel was deliberate and motivated by the coach's ego. Manaj emphasized that he played for two months with physical problems, giving his best for the team.

"Even though I've been playing injured for two months, I gave my best. I trained with the team two days before the match, I was ready to play, even as a substitute. The coach found an excuse to leave me out, something he had planned before. He informed me by text message that he would not be picking me. Personal ego must be put aside for the good of the team, but the results have shown that the coach always puts ego before everything ," said Manaj.

Despite his contract running until 2026, the situation could affect his future at Sivasspor. With 12 goals this season, the player could look for another destination. The current club is fighting for survival in the Turkish top flight.
