Arsenal equalize at the end, a penalty punishes Leverkusen

Arsenal drew 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The English team managed to avoid defeat thanks to a penalty scored in the last minutes by Kai Havertz.

The German midfielder scored against his former team to equalise. Bayer Leverkusen had taken the lead early in the second half with Robert Andrich's goal following a corner kick.

Both teams created chances throughout the match, with goalkeeper David Raya making several key saves for Arsenal. Late in the match, a challenge by Malik Tillman on Noni Madueke led to the penalty that changed the outcome.

After this draw, everything remains open for the return leg. Arsenal meanwhile continue their unbeaten run, while Leverkusen record their fourth consecutive draw in all competitions.
