The Municipal Council has rejected the proposal of the Shkodër Regional Water and Sewerage Company for increasing the drinking water tariff for consumers as well as for the fees for the removal and processing of polluted water.

After about 3 and a half hours of meeting with a unanimous decision of all the councilors of the SP, PD, BF and PSD, they have listed the reasons as primary the shortcomings in the quality of the provision of services by this regional enterprise as and the high level of administrative losses, which according to her do not justify the request for an increase in fees.

This company is now a Joint Stock Company with the participation of the Ministry of Infrastructure in the amount of 51% and the 5 municipalities of Shkodra district, all together with 49% of the shares.

In the report submitted to the Municipal Council by the Shkodër District Water and Sewerage Company, an increase in water for family subscribers from 40 to 70 lek per m3 of water was requested.

This issue aroused a lot of sensibility among the citizens, expressed also by the public hearings organized in the 5 municipalities of the Shkodër district, the sensibility that was translated into the disapproval of the proposal of the Shkodër Regional Water and Sewerage Company./CNA
