Record-breaking warm winter weather in Europe

High temperatures in January have reached record highs in a number of countries across Europe.

National records have been broken in eight European countries - the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Denmark and Belarus.

The temperature recorded in Warsaw on January 1 was 4 degrees Celsius higher than the previous record, while in Belarus the temperature was 16.4 degrees Celsius or about 4.5 degrees above the previous record.
