Violence at work is very widespread

The International Labor Organization (ILO) has complained very clearly these days about widespread violence and harassment at work. In a survey of employees from many countries around the world, almost 23 percent of them stated that they had been psychologically, physically or sexually assaulted in the workplace.

More than three out of five victims reported repeatedly experiencing similar attacks and harassment at work. "It is painful to learn that people face violence and harassment not just once, but several times in their working lives," said ILO Deputy Director-General Manuela Tomei in Geneva.

The study is based on surveys conducted in 2021 with nearly 75,000 employees aged 15 and over. The survey was conducted in 121 countries and different regions of the world. According to the ILO, this is the first survey of its kind, with such large proportions./DW
