Most of my friends focus mainly on food as the only way to have good health.
It's certainly a valuable starting point, but there are many other lifestyle components to look at!
Let's see them in turn...
- Do you spend time with your friends?
Studies show that having a community of loved ones brings health benefits as it strengthens positive feelings,
helps you fight stress, loneliness and feelings of isolation.
- Do you sleep peacefully and sufficiently?
It is not enough to sleep 7 to 8 hours, but also how well you sleep.
This means that the balance between deep sleep and light sleep is equal. Limit your exposure to "blue light" (various screens in the bedroom) in the evening and avoid caffeine (take caffeine-free foods and drinks after noon).
- Apply deep breaths!
Deep breathing activates the vagus nerve (which regulates your parasympathetic nervous system) so you can relax.
- Eat carefully and chew your food slowly!
Swallowing your food without chewing it thoroughly can cause bloating, diarrhea or heartburn. And eating too fast can lead to the release of stress hormones.
- Take it easy with stress!
It's not just about "getting the hassle" off your back. It could be time for a job change or even to break away from the 'chorus' that stresses you out every week.
It's an emotional detox!!!
- Stop being a slave to yourself!!!
This goes for endless hours of work, grueling diets, vicious workouts, non-stop cardio, etc.
- Check make-up and skin creams!
Many beauty products (even high-end ones) are loaded with toxic ingredients like formaldehyde, BPA, and other xenobiotics.
- Use glass water bottles at home, at work, on the go, at the gym, etc.!
Plastic water bottles contain BPA - a hormone disruptor found in most standard plastic containers. It is good to use glass or porcelain containers for food storage as well.
