Doctors reveal a number of foods that they themselves avoid, due to their negative effect on gut health and causing inflammation.
Foods to avoid
Cereal and granola bars
Although advertised as healthy products, they often contain processed oils, emulsifiers, and “fake fiber.” Nuts or fruit with nut butter are preferred as cleaner, more nutritious alternatives.
Yogurt with fruit
They contain added sugars and artificial flavors. Instead, plain yogurt with berries and chia seeds is recommended for antioxidant protection and better digestion.
Sugar-free chewing gum
They often contain artificial sweeteners like sorbitol, which can cause bloating, gas, or even diarrhea. As an alternative, fennel seeds are suggested after a meal.
Commercial salad dressings
Even those that claim to be “healthy” contain added sugars. Alternatively, you can make your own homemade dressing with olive oil, lemon, mustard, and herbs.
Processed vegetable oils
Oils like canola oil and corn oil are high in omega-6 fats, which are linked to inflammation. Choose avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, or coconut oil.
Milk and lactose
Lactose can be irritating to the digestive system, especially for those with sensitivity. So opt for almond milk or plain cinnamon coffee.
Instant noodles or “Noodles”
These are products that are full of preservatives, have low nutritional value, and are harmful to the gut microbiome. As an alternative, choose rice pasta with meat and vegetable broth.

– Increased risk of diabetes, depression and cancer.
