American study/ Coffee ensures longevity and good health for women

A major new study involving nearly 50,000 women followed for 30 years has shown that a cup of coffee, which is the "companion" of millions of women every morning, offers much more than a boost in energy levels.

According to findings presented at the American Dietetic Association's NUTRITION 2025 conference, which took place in Orlando, Florida from May 31 to June 3, coffee helps women keep their minds sharp, their bodies strong and their mental health good as they age.

The benefits of just caffeinated coffee

Specifically, the analysis found that women who consumed caffeinated coffee in middle age were more likely to age healthily. However, it was notable that these benefits were not seen after consuming decaffeinated tea or coffee, while high consumption of cola drinks (which also contain caffeine) appeared to be associated with significantly lower odds of healthy aging.

Three small cups of coffee a day is the average consumption

By 2016, 3,706 of the women in the study met all the requirements to be considered healthy aging. In middle age (that is, ages 45-60), these women consumed an average of 315 mg of caffeine per day — an amount contained in an average of three small cups of coffee or one and a half large cups of coffee.
