Already turned into a tradition, the Brandy Festival has been organized for the tenth year in a row in the village of Boboshtica in Korça. This village is known not only for its hospitality but also for the quality production of mulberry brandy. Centuries-old berries identify Boboshtica and the residents of the area are artisans of extracting this drink with a special taste but also known for its curative properties.

“Sot në stendën tonë po shërbejmë raki dhe disa produkte të tjera tradicionale të fshatit tonë. Kemi raki mani, dhe krahasuar më të tjerat, kjo lloj rakie ka ngjyrën e saj të gjelbër që nuk e kanë të tjerat dhe që është e veçantë për shijen. Kjo festë është traditë për Boboshticën, dhe zhvillohet çdo vit.” – shprehet njëra nga vajzat e stendave.

Për kryeplakun e fshatit Boboshticë, kjo është një ndër festat më të rëndësishme, edhe pse jo e vetmja që organizohet.

“Kjo festë është shumë shekullore, ashtu si manat. Ne e preferojmë alegrinë, dhe për këtë arsye e duam edhe rakinë për ta konsumuar. Pjesëmarrja gjithmonë ka qenë më e madhe, por këtë vit duket pak më e ulët, por megjithatë prapë s’kanë munguar banorët dhe korçarët të bëhen pjesë e festës.”.

“Jam fanse e rakisë, më pëlqen rakia e manit. Është raki shumë e mirë dhe të bën mirë edhe për shëndetin. Unë vij nga Korça, dhe çdo vit bëhem pjesë e kësaj feste bashkë me familjen time dhe me miqtë. Atmosfera më duket e mirë, ka patur më tepër pjesëmarrës vitet e kaluara megjithatë edhe pak i ftohti ka ndikuar.” – shprehet një korçare.

Boboshtica ka pasur një tkurrje të popullsisë  të cilët janë larguar në emigrim e ndërkohë ka nga ata që e shohin këtë vend si potencial për tu kthyer e për të investuar në vendin e tyre.

"The brandy tradition has been passed down through the generations, from our great-grandfathers, our grandfathers, and we who try to pass it on to the young people. Mulberry is a tree that does not accept medicine, it grows by itself and also falls by itself, and we collect them to turn into brandy. This is the main one, which distinguishes it from other brandies and from other areas." - says one of the residents of Boboshtica.

The promotion of the tradition of producing mulberry brandy, combined with traditional cooking and music, brought a festive and warm atmosphere on Saturday evening in the tourist village of Boboshtica./ CNA.al
