Prime Minister Edi Rama responded today remotely to the British Home Secretary regarding her statements a few days ago regarding the expulsion of Albanian families living there.

At an event this Friday, Rama said that contrary to what is presented, Albanians are contributors to the British economy, which, according to him, is proven by facts.

Rama described the United Kingdom as 'divorced' from the EU, from which they have a trauma that they are taking out on Albanians.

"A few days ago, the British Home Secretary mentioned Albanians, who were refused residence permits. In a country of 67 million inhabitants, a statistical whisper, blown like a political siren. I am mentioning it not to dramatize or confuse the EU with the 'divorced'. But it shows that the EU wants to remain true to itself. And I can understand it because there is a trauma there. They are belittling a small community, which shows that fear speaks louder than facts. The facts are crystal clear. Albanians are a net contributor to the British economy. The same story continues. Here comes the connection with the students of the College of Europe. Enlargement, which I see as reunification, flourishes when there is reunification.", said Rama./CNA
