"We expect Erion Veliaj's dismissal"/ Pano: In 7 months, Tirana

Democratic Party councilor in the Tirana Municipal Council, Jonathan Pano, said today that the opposition has been waiting for the dismissal of the arrested mayor of the capital, Erion Veliaj, for four months.

In an interview on 'Syri TV', Pano emphasized that this case was discussed in every meeting.

Pano added that in the last 7 months, Tirana has been worse than it was, due to the municipality's mismanagement.

"We are now in a total legitimacy of the Municipality of Tirana. We, as a group of the Democratic Party, have submitted on May 9 the letter for the meeting of the Tirana Municipal Council and for the dismissal of the mayor Erion Veliaj. In fact, it is not the municipal council that decides on the dismissal, but the municipal council passes its request to the Council of Ministers. And then, it is the Council of Ministers and the Prime Minister who then deals with the dismissal.

And from the moment we submitted our letter until the last meeting of the municipal council which was last week, in every meeting we have requested discussions on the current situation in the Municipality of Tirana. The Municipality of Tirana these last 7 months has been even worse than it was before and mismanagement both with Erion Veliaj and without Erion Veliaj has brought the city to this point where it is today.

We still have problems with water in the Municipality of Tirana and we have no one to hold responsible for this work. It is true that with today's meeting of the SP councilors in the SP hall, it seems that we will understand more clearly when the request for the dismissal of Erion Veliaj will be made and then all legal procedures will be followed. It is something that we have been requesting and have been insisting on for 4 months now and in every meeting of the municipal council, we have insisted on his dismissal", - said Pano./CNA
