Kos, Kosta and Von der Leyen think like the majority/ Balla to the opposition:

The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, responded to the opposition's criticism and accusations regarding the changes to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly and the political architecture of the committees.

Balla said that the opposition would oppose everything that was proposed to it. The head of the socialist parliamentary group said that the majority voted to advance the agenda and close Albania's membership in the EU by 2029 and that the structure of 11 committees aligns the agenda with the EU.

"The truth is different, we are very much in agreement that you do not agree to agree with us. We know, if everything we had brought here, to be honest, would have received your understanding 4 years ago, when we first initiated this issue. Rrushaj was the chairman of the group and we talked about the necessity of changing the Assembly. Unimaginable, the Laws Committee with 26 members, there are countries that have an Assembly with 40. I know how you say, when we agree, the Constitution can be violated, or the violation is not unconstitutional.

I also heard a deputy who signed the minutes on September 14, 2017, at the request of the DP, within the same day the proposal for the amendment of Article 20 was filed, within the same day we established the Rules of Procedure Council and voted on the amendment. Now this is unconstitutional, in violation of the rules of procedure, neither I as the group leader, nor this majority will take a single step back, where there is no violation.

There is no violation here, we are in a phase that foresees the constitution phase. We have not yet closed it, we need to close the chairmanship of the committees so that tomorrow we can go to the conference of chairmen.

We cannot do theater, and neither can you, this theater that you know you do not agree with. You have been told so, to disagree. We have a responsibility, we voted for this agenda, we received a mandate to close Albania's membership in the EU in 2029. Albania in the EU needs an assembly that aligns the work agenda with the chapters of the EU membership agreement. We need to vote on all those committees, the Assembly should organize the work in 11 committees", said Balla.

Balla once again said that the Integration Commission has not been dissolved. He said that Marta Kos, Kosta and Von der Leyen think like the majority, while the opposition thinks differently about the commission.

" We have not dissolved the Integration Committee. Today, 20 years ago, in this hall we had an article that considered it a second-rate committee, we will dissolve that article. We are raising it to the highest level that this committee has had since 2005 when it was first established. The Socialist Party sees Europe and foreign affairs together, you see them separately. Even the fields showed that if we had Europe at the center of attention, you do not mention Europe. We expect to close the negotiations within 2029, even Kos, even Costa, even Von der Leyen think like us, you think differently. In March 2025, if we said whatever you say, you will say the same in September 2029," declared Balla./ CNA
