Why do Mimosas wither so early in Albania?

Why do Mimosas wither so early in Albania?

Mimosa is a fragile, early, evocative, but also very delicate flower.

It requires sun, water and warmth, otherwise its flowering is short and it withers quickly.

When we were children or teenagers, mimosa was the symbol of spring and love.

-It was a symbol of spring because the mimosa was the first flower to turn the green hills and fields of Albania yellow in February.

-It was a symbol of love because in those years we would give it to a girl we loved or a dear person like a teacher on March 7th or a mother on March 8th.

I remembered this detail when I was watching poet Mimoza Ahmeti on one of the most watched reality shows in Albania.

Today, the common denominator between the two "Mimosas" is the spring season.

Like the mimosas, she blossomed on the eve of the Albanian spring. Mimoza Ahmeti, at the age of 20, was the winner of the First Sanremo Poetry Festival in 1988, organized by RAI.

After Ismail Kadare, Mimoza Ahmeti's works were translated into several languages ??of the world: French, English, Spanish, Italian...

Mimoza Ahmeti was the inspiration of our generation with her verses and talent. Mimoza crossed the boundaries of literature by seeking other artistic dimensions, such as in music and painting.

Once, in the early 2000s, she even tried politics by running for office, but that's where she took her first blow from the system. The Albanian storm and frost attacked her, making her lose her shine.

Thousands of eyes and ears have returned to see the former idol, but now withered and wrinkled from the great Albanian winter that has passed.

Beautiful in her simplicity and full of charm in her demeanor, she has returned, evoking nostalgia and sadness that idols can fade away.

No one knows the financial, artistic, social, or personal reasons why Mimoza is a resident of a famous people's farm.

We are lucky to see an organic and real Mimosa, outside of novel covers or painting frames.

In fact, Mimoza should have had her own farm, just like thousands of politicians, MPs, customs officers, prosecutors, doctors, or oligarchs, but perhaps with her talent and idealism she could not flourish in an environment where greenery is destroyed and every sapling dries up.

Like the flowers with its name, the Mimosa could not bloom for long because this rare flower needs water, warmth, sun, and care.

Joining the famous farm proves that Mimoza is eager for new challenges, but also for more attention, care, and love.

Unfortunately, the end of artists in Albania is tragic, like mimosas from the late winter frosts. They end up poor, abandoned, lonely, forgotten, and bent under the weight of a reality they had not foreseen in their verses.

The sad ending is written by Mimoza in her poem: Death

"O almighty eternal peace,

I came out of you with effort,

to you to return.

The return is even more difficult...

"I was a baby then, now I'm a man."

We are lucky to see Mimoza as a human at the end of spring. A difficult end, with a few rays of light, because after many years she can once again be surrounded by the love of millions of people.

We just have to see how she glows in the dark and listen to her bright mind.

Mimosa at the end of the season, just like in her poem: "Pollination of Flowers," is spreading its pollen everywhere before the branches break from time./ CNA
