Changes in the leadership of the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana

A major leadership change is taking place at one of Italy's most famous fashion houses.

Stefano Gabbana, co-founder of Dolce & Gabbana, has officially resigned from the position of chairman.

According to a company document filed in Italy, the 63-year-old designer resigned from the position in December 2025, although the quiet departure is only now being made public. As the company prepares for a major round of debt negotiations, Gabbana is said to be weighing options regarding his large 40% stake in the brand.

Following Gabbana's resignation, the company has maintained its leadership structure within the founding family. Alfonso Dolce, brother of Domenico Dolce and the brand's current CEO, officially took over as chairman in January 2026. Meanwhile, a broader management shake-up is on the horizon, with reports suggesting that former Gucci CEO Stefano Cantino could take a role in senior management, although no official announcement has been made yet.

Dolce & Gabbana was founded in 1985 and quickly became one of the most recognized fashion brands in the world with its Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic.
